Material Properties
Temperature range
• Working range: -50℃ to +200℃ (up to 230℃ for short term)
• The low temperature resistance of silicone (still elastic at -60℃) is combined with the high temperature resistance of FEP (melting point 260℃).
Chemical stability
• FEP outer layer: resistant to strong acids, strong alkalis, organic solvents and oxidants, and almost insoluble in all chemicals (except molten alkali metals and fluorinated media).
• Silicone inner layer: provides elastic support, but is sensitive to some oils and solvents. FEP outer coating can make up for this shortcoming.
Electrical properties
• FEP has excellent dielectric strength (≥80 kV/mm) and is suitable for sealing scenarios with high insulation requirements.
Mechanical properties
• Pure FEP has high hardness and poor elasticity;
• Pure silicone may affect its rebound performance due to silicone aging under long-term high pressure;
• Composite design can improve the sealing fit of O ring.
Low friction coefficient
• FEP surface has a low friction coefficient (about 0.1~0.2), which is suitable for dynamic sealing and is not easy to adhere to particles or media, reducing the risk of leakage.
